Basic Purpose of Job:
"
" Assure Technical Integrity of the discipline output on the contract or project.
" Provide direction and guidance to the team in technical and resource related issues.
" Manage the delivery of discipline deliverables for use by contract or project.
" Manage the discipline resources within the project or contract to ensure delivery on time to budget.
" Provide the necessary cost, planning and progress information to the contract or project
" Support the Lead or Chief Engineer in discipline engineering function activities.
" Ensure that all allocated responsibilities are dealt with in accordance with agreed procedures & standards.
" Ensure that the Client business drivers and performance incentives are fully understood by all personnel being supervised.

Supervisory and Managerial Duties:
Main Duties:
o Supervision of electrical staff under their control, & responsibility for the technical quality of work produced by them.
o Be conversant and knowledgeable with respect to current and new legislation and standards e.g., BS, API and Client codes and standards, DCR and HS&E Regulations and EU Directives
o Be aware and understand the business drivers within the Client organisation and how these can be influenced by innovated designs and minimum cost solutions
o Production of cost effective designs that are fit for purpose and safe.
o Deputise for the Lead electrical engineer in their absence, including the approval of all engineering documents created by the electrical team.
o Identification of appropriate resources for engineering works and forward planning of resources, taking into account cross asset requirements
o Compliance with engineering procedures and industry, international and Client Codes and standards.
o Assurance that personnel within the Electrical group are competent. Identification of inadequacies in personnel and proposing solutions such as training, coaching or replacement
o Responsible for assessing and identifying deviations to standards, that will benefit ... & Client, and gaining acceptance of Client Technical Authorities
o Responsible for input to project plans and schedules, achievement of agreed schedule, during the course of any project or study or early identification of project areas of concern with necessary corrective action identified
o Progress of the works under their control and the achievement of targets. Responsible for reporting progress as per company systems and procedures
o Producing engineering deliverables registers and controlling the works against those registers
o Identification of increase or reduction in scope, raising the necessary support documents for Project Control Purposes
o Preparation of engineering and construction scopes for both man-hours and equipment estimates where necessary
" Responsibility for the integration of the electrical design into the overall project work-scope, & ensuring that Commissioning, Maintenance and Operational requirements are included within the design.
" Responsible as a key member of any project team for achieving the project target and completion of the project within the budget and schedule
Health and Safety Responsibilities:
" Shall take into account all aspects of the "Health and Safety at Work etc. Act (1974)",
" Knowledge of, compliance with and promotion of office, site and contract/project health and safety guidelines and procedures.
" Comply with the Safety Management System
" Take part and contribute to construction risk assessments and construction method statements
" Take into account all relevant procedures, guidance etc. relating to the work, which will ensure compliance with Safety Management System
" Shall ensure all personnel working under their direction are aware of the requirements placed upon them by "Health and Safety at Work etc. Act (1974)" and the Safety Management System
Education & Qualifications:
" Degree or equivalent in an Electrical engineering discipline
" Chartered.
Specific Training / Specialist Skills:
" Formal recognised training programme relevant to career path, e.g. for degree quals IET recognised grad training programme.
" BOSIET Offshore survival certification
" Current offshore medical certificate
" Use of Power System Analysis package
" Electrical Equipment for use in a Hazardous Area
" Electrical Protection
" Power Management
Experience:
" Considerable experience in the practical application of Electric motors, generators, switchboards, transformers & other main components of electrical systems
" Considerable experience in the practical application of Electrical equipment for use in Hazardous Areas
" Considerable experience in the practical application of Electrical Protection
" Considerable experience in the practical application of Power System Analysis
" Considerable experience in the application of UPS Equipment
" Considerable experience in the practical application of Power Management Systems
" Considerable experience in the practical application of the operation & control of gas turbine & diesel driven generators
" Considerable knowledge in electrical engineering principles and their application in engineering projects
" Considerable experience in the oil & gas or petrochemical industry and the application of electrical equipment therein
" Considerable knowledge of engineering materials used within discipline.
" Considerable knowledge in the requirements and needs of other disciplines
