External Job Advert Purpose / Role
o Discipline - Instrumentation, Control & Telecommunication.
o Day to day supervision of the instrument section engineers and designers assigned to an asset or a project.
o Ensure that project discipline engineering activities are executed within budget and schedule, while maintaining technical integrity.
Key aims and objectives
o Deputise for Lead Instrument Engineer as required.
o Ensure correct execution of instrument engineering activities (Concept, Front End Engineering Development, Technical Study & Detailed Design)
Prime responsibilities and duties
o Achieve safety standards as defined in personal performance contract.
o Responsible for assessing effectiveness of working practices and systems with a view to continuously improving systems, personal and team performance.
o Carry out work in accordance with company and project Health, Safety, Environmental and Quality systems.
o Ensure that the required technical quality of work is maintained.
o Ensure that discipline personnel assigned meet the required competency criteria including carrying out appraisals and identifying training.
o Ensure that any scope and schedule changes are captured by the Change Control Process.
o Ensure that designs comply with the relevant procedures, standards and regulations.
o Ensure, as far as practically possible, that all assigned work is carried out in compliance with agreed budget and schedule.
o Ensure that the team members are kept up to date with technical developments, National and International standards and legislative requirements related to the discipline.
o Ensure that estimates and schedules are carried out in a consistent and realistic manner.
o Review and set discipline resource levels under his / her control to ensure the ideal number of personnel to meet workload and schedule with maximum efficiency.
o Maintain good communication with the Client and visit Assets when necessary.
o Encourage and provide lateral learning within the project.
Allied occasional duties
o Provide technical assistance to discipline assigned staff as required.
o Review work output of discipline assigned staff as required.
