My client is a global EPC company based in West london who are currently recruiting for a Senior Fire Systems Engineer on a staff basis:
Requirements
Writing Fire Detection and Protection Specification and Philosophies.
Calculating fire water demand, and hydraulic calculations using specialist software.
Designing water deluge systems and foam systems
Conducting fire risk assessments.
Producing Fire systems Equipment layouts and P&IDs for input to CAD group.
Responsibilities
Fire Systems issues and deliverables during FEED and the detailed design project phases.
Meeting project deadlines and milestones for deliverables, liaising with Project Management and Client.
Maintaining a good understanding of International Fire Codes and writing philosophies and specifications that are project specific. .
The Individual
The successful candidate will have some years experience within an engineering contractor or consultancy, operator, or other relevant organisation. They are likely to have experience in preparing and executing fire systems activities and deliverables including fire detection and protection specifications and philosophies, fire water demand and hydraulic calculations, and the design of water deluge and foam systems. Experience of working in the process industry and energy, oil and gas, refining and petrochemical sectors would be an advantage.
Skills/Competencies
Essential:
Broad experience of a range of fire engineering applications and be able to demonstrate understanding across these areas.
An ability to interpret fire engineering related legislation and standards.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
The ability and willingness to undertake new challenges.
Good Microsoft Office skills and general computing skills.
Desirable:
A Degree in an Engineering discipline, preferably Fire, Chemical or Process Engineering.
Proven ability to conduct technical work within budgetary and time constraints.
Experience working across multiple business sectors.
Should have, or be working towards, membership of a recognised professional institution.
